However, on the other hand Galaxy S20 Ultra was also created to compete with the iPhone 11 Pro Max.  Should we consider this battle, the survival of the fittest? Or, should we consider and declare that the Smartphone battle has just begun.  The year 2020 is again another year that is full of surprises, to touch on the other side of the news, we are surprised by this worldwide pandemic that infecting thousands of and even more than 2 million now as of this writing of this content.  As said this year is full of new story.  Going back to the smartphone, OnePlus has released its flagship brand released after Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra in the marker early this year.  Just yesterday, April 14th 2020 I received an email from OnePlus inviting me to attend the opening of their new released OnePlus 8 Pro, and it’s full of surprises.  You will be surprised really with your new OnePlus 8 Pro, and the more with Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.  If you don’t own this smartphone yet, you still have the time to grab yours and if you are still wondering what I am talking all about, in this Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra VS OnePlus 8 plus Review I will be exposing the flagship of both OnePlus and Samsung’s Gadget of the year.

Secret Behind OnePlus 8 Pro

As stated above, this OnePlus 8 Pro was intentionally built as an iPhone killer.  This genius smartphone creation will capture your attention on your fist look.  What you will receive when you buy of course is your box, and inside on it, you will have your beautiful OnePlus 8 Pro together with your user’s manual, plus additional extra 2 casing if ever you will need to replace the casing of your smartphone. The freebies casing is made up of a very solid and fine plastic material, inside and out of it. The other one is the cover bumper, its looks fine, with rough design outside and a little bit unpolished inside of it but it will serve the purpose that is to protect your smartphone. Another is the casing, when you look on the side part of the it there you can see the oneplus design in it, another one, is your charger C cable and the 30 Warp charger adapter which really works fast when you change your phone.

New Branding of OnePlus 8 Pro

If you unbox it, you can see your new OnePlus 8 Pro that is noticeable has rebranded by the company when you compare it to the other OnePlus Smartphone’s previous releases.  You will notice that the Logo of the brand is clearly seen and in bold form.

Comparison of Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and OnePlus 8 Pro

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is a big Phone, you can notice is physically when you compare the physical dimension front to back and back to front it is very obvious that Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is much bigger than OnePlus 8 Pro.  With Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, it’s taller, thicker and heavier that the other one.  OnePlus 8 Pro weigh 199gm while Samsung S20 Ultra weigh 220g although it OnePlus 8 Pro is much bigger physically but its Samsung S20 Ultra takes all the win. Sounds like heavy weight VS middle weight right?

Comfort for Handling Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and OnePlus 8 Pro and Design

What I like with OnePlus 8 Pro is that, you will have all the comfort when carrying your smartphones for few days, you will have all the grip comfort with your new OnePlus 8 Pro.  On the other hand when you keep holding your Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, based on the weight. You will be out for few days. Its obviously clear that, OnePlus is ultimately palm friendly smartphone than Samsung S20 Ultra.

When it comes to its colors, OnePlus greenish blue new color design is very eye friendly compared with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra’s glossy black and slightly grey color.

OnePlus 8 Pro has dedicated switch slider on the right part of your smartphone that switch from ringer, vibration and silent mode which other smartphones don’t have. However if you closely look at your OnePlus you can find the not so improve design the camera’s position on the back side of the smartphone it’s obvious that, they don’t improve much of the camera design and that’s a minus factor if you are a choosy buyer.  With your Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, although the position of the quad camera has a good position, it stands out and it looks like bulky on the back side of it.  But, the position has huge improvements than compared with your new OnePlus 8 Pro.  If you don’t have any issue with how this smartphone is being designed, you will probably consider buying Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra or The Newly birth OnePlus 8 Pro.

If you’re fun of investigating your smartphone usage, both has similarity, if you try to touch both edge of your OnePlus and S20 Pro, you will notice that both won’t function as others do.  However, the good thing with the new OnePlus 8 Pro is that, it is getting much closer with the other flagship smartphones when it comes to its design and the functionality of the phone.

Samsung S20 Ultra Vs OnePlus 8 Pro Wireless Charging

As designed, if you are not much picky with your super high-tech gadget, you can ultimately conclude or even decide to buy OnePlus 8 Pro or Samsung S20 Ultra.  Based on the comparison with the wireless charging you can’t compromise the technology between the two.  With OnePlus 8 Pro, it has the capacity to charge at 30Watts that 15Watts with your Samsung S20 Ultra.  Which is a great leap when it comes to consideration of the fast charging technology.

What is your advantage with your Samsung is the display of your screen.  Comparing this both, you have of much advantage with your Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra than to your OnePlus 8 Pro.  Based on my research, both has similar screen, but when you will going ask my openion to both smartphones, I will still consider OnePlus 8 Pro.  Both has QuadHD high resolution AMOLED display Screen with both contrast of 120Hz refresh rate with smooth performance and both technology has reduces the blue light effect of the screen to give us more eye friendly display that even in a very dark place, it won’t hurt your eyes because of the less blue light effect on it.

Screen Size and Display

With almost the same screen size, OnePlus has 60.78 inches screen display which is quite close to the rival Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra that has 6.90 inches Screen display.  What gets my attention with both is that OnePlus has brighter screen display even tested indoor or outdoor it stands out that OnePlus gives more light than Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Instead of using my torch in dark place, I will just turn on my screen with OnePlus 8 Pro and and make it as my flashlight.  One plus can keep running with its full QuadHDplus 120Hz screen resolution while having its refresh on. In the case of Samsung I also have the option, whether to use the 60Hz QuadHD Resolution or I have to use the fullHD 120Hz screen resolution this is what makes difference between both smartphones.  One only that, OnePlus claims that they have extend their lead with what they called MEMC Technology.

What is MEMC Technology?

MEMC technology is a piece of software the combats the refresh rate of 120fps yet most of the games has 24fps and some has 30fps this is a big factor if you love gaming or fun of viewing YouTube.  This present technology, I know you always want’s that your gadget is on top amongst other.  It always nice to think that you have the advantage from others.  This is what OnePlus takes advantage from other compotators. What makes Oneplus takes from others, because you can insert up to 120fps that makes your watch movies smoother than ever before.

Camera Position of Both Samsung S20 Ultra and OnePlus 8 Pro

What makes this both similar is the screen identical size, however the camera position of your Oneplus 8 Pro was on the left side of the screen while the Samsung S20 Ultra. Is on the middle of your screen.  If you are disturb of this positions you have the choice.

What is good with your OnePlus 8 Pro is the curve of your smartphone, and this is what makes you more comfortable.  Depending on your comfort, you will always have the option in view your screen. You will always have the option.  I know that you have always discomfort if the edge of your screen has sharp edge.  With your new OnePlus it’s no longer an issue.

Performance of Samsung S20 Ultra and OnePlus 8 Pro

Samsung had keeps on improving their designs over the years, yet.  When it comes to the design nothing can compete with Samsung products. While OnePlus has also develop much improvements on their gadgets.  OnePlus improved mush the screen touch response to the smoother experience than ever before. With Samsung, I guess that is now starting to fade.  There are many factors you have to consider with it comes to competition.  With the case of OnePlus?  Not to them, the technology is becoming better and better because they consider the customer’s satisfaction.  Oneplus never compromise the quality of their product but, much with it, they improve more and more for them to compete with the rival smartphone company.

With the case of OnePlus Pro wow, it’s amazing, it’s really a blistering fast touch response with their screen.  If you try to cover both gadget, you can’t tell anymore the difference between the gadgets.  It’s really identical when it comes to their 120Hz touch response rate.

Comparing both cameras of this smartphones for the Samsung, you will have the advantages, you have 108MP camera sensor, while for OnePlus 8 Pro you only have 48MP which is why, Samsung Has taken the advantage in both smartphones. Samsung has a High Telephoto Camera that has 48MP which gives you 10X Zoom Advantage for best photography experience and will change your photography. While for OnePlus 8 Pro, you have 8MP Telephoto Camera only 3X zoom advantage on it. But if you are considering the budget, you have the choice to go for OnePlus 8 Pro.  But when it comes to the audio sound, with OnePlus you have the front and the bottom part speaker of your phone. Which gives you best sound experience, with your volume, it has the same volume level with your Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and that can make your OnePlus an advantage.  You can’t compare both, but at least you have the same advantage on it and it has cheaper price compared to Samsung S20 Ultra.

This both has quad built in cameras Samsung has TOF Depth Sensor, but OnePlus has color filter Camera that the camera can give you a different color in your videos. But after all, when it comes to overall performance?  I don’t give much consideration about how OnePlus overall camera performance.  Needless to say, I can’t give you a 5/5 ratings on it. With the company’s consideration with how the camera filters performance is, I can give your comments on that case.  But I am convince that OnePlus really giving much time and energy working on their camera system to compete with the Samsung.  But as of now they don’t made it.

In the case of both smartphones photo result, Samsung for me has taken all the advantages.  Samsung will always give you the best photography life’s experience ever.  With Samsung photo result, it really looks live and crispy to your eyes.  Congratulations to Samsung’s true to life sensors. When it comes to Samsung’s video it gives you lifelike experience.  Compared to OnePlus 8 Pro.  It really tells a huge difference with it comes to its result.

Key Features:

With Samsung, it has big difference when it comes to how the security features.  When it comes to its sim slots, no problem with both, they almost have the same dual Sim-card slot but with Samsung, it has an extra expandable micro SD slot.

With charging issues, Samsung has 45watts charge capacity, while OnePlus it has 30watts charging capacity which to my side, another advantage to Samsung gadget.

Are Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Worth The Price Compared to OnePlus 8 Pro?

Undoubtedly, when it comes to price of this both smartphones, it really has huge advantage, it’s almost half the price advantage, for about $1,240.00 compared to OnePlus 8 Pro that is only $889.00.  What makes Samsung much costly it’s because of the specs and the technology behind it.  However, if you consider the performances, it’s almost of the same outcome.  Each one, serves its purpose.  So which one you will going to choose?  With Samsung S20 Ultra, you have 108MP Sensor Camera, while OnePlus 8 Pro has 48MP, Samsung s20 Ultra has 5000mAh Battery, while OnePlus has 4510mAh, plus 16GBRAM vs 12GB RAM.

Are Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Or OnePlus 8 Pro Worth Buying?

For this both smartphones I don’t have much concern with the specifications and how the way this both performs, but when you are willing to invest more with S20 Series and willing to pay the price, you have to option to have this smartphone, but as I have said I don’t need to waste my money investing things that won’t give me much satisfaction.  Considered them both.  You have all the knowledge either which of this two smartphone you are willing to invest.

The question now is are you willing to sacrifice your money for the things that won’t give you satisfaction? Are you willing to invest with $900-$1,250.00?  you have to think it twice, going to buy OnePlus 8 Pro or Samsung GAlaxy S20 Ultra.

Final Verdict

This time you can never tell or maybe, you are in two mind, either you buy OnePlus 8 Pro or you have to buy the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.  My final verdict is, I will give better grade for the new OnePlus 8 Pro.  Aside from the price is have of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, the specifications is much relatively the same.  But, if you want to have a better experience or you want to prove it yourself to invest in both phone no problem to me.  It really up to your decision.
